Easy Crochet Hook Roll Pattern – free pattern for fat quarters

This crochet hook roll is perfect for keeping all your crochet hooks tidy. The crochet hook roll pattern is super quick and easy to make, making a great last minute gift or stocking filler. What’s more this it is a perfect gift to make from fat quarters.

I’m so excited to say I am taking part in the Little Gifts Sew Along! I’ve teamed up with 11 other bloggers to bring you 25 free sewing projects for little gifts. Each project is small enough to be a “stocking stuffer” if you’d like to get a head start on holiday crafting, or you can gift them for birthdays and other events throughout the year. And, because make alongs are more fun with prizes, we’ve teamed up with some of our favorite brands to bring you really great prizes. You can read all about this over at Underground Crafter blog

The versatile roll can equally be used for make up brushes or paint brushes. What’s more you only need two fat quarters and a ribbon – I picked a Tilda fat quarter from my stash and paired with fabric from a pillowcase.

RECOMMENDED SUPPLIES:
  • Two fat quarters
  • Ribbon 40″
  • Quilters ruler
  • Tailors Chalk
  • Scissors
  • Sewing machine

Alternatively here is a video tutorial .

Start by cutting out your pattern pieces. Cut two pieces for the body of the crochet hook roll measuring 10 1/2” by 15 1/2” and 9 1/4 by 15 1/2”. Cut the pockets piece 9 1/2″ by 15 1/2″.

Fold your contrast fabric in half and press.

Top stitch along the edge.

Place on the smaller piece of fabric, long raw edges aligning along the base. Pin to hold.

Using tailors chalk and a quilters ruler mark out pockets 1” apart.

Stitch your pockets, backstitching close to the edge. Place a folded piece of ribbon on one of the sides, pin in place.

Place your fabrics right sides together, the top of your two pieces aligned, this gives you an overlap at the bottom.

Stitch around the sides and top. Trim the corners at the top.

Turn right side out and press.

Fold over the long raw edge, once and then twice. This encases the raw edge.

Stitch to finish.
