I am very excited to be taking part in this blog hop – the theme to create anything in the colours red, black and grey around the topic Rush Hour.
If you have not visited me before one very big Welcome:) I enjoy the challenge of upcycling a former item into something new. Regularly creating bags out of former clothes – this challenge is perfect for me:)
I started off with this wonderful tweed skirt, you can imagine my delight when I discovered it in my stash fitting the theme perfectly:)
The skirt is a 100% wool, with sewn in pleats. I have set myself the challenge to create as many Rush Hour themed items as I can from the one skirt.
First off this gorgeous bag, which highlights the original pleats from the skirt. I have lined it with red cotton, and included an internal zip pocket. Hardware for the bag is rescued from an old bag. There is a tutorial here if you fancy making one yourself:)
With the left over fabric I unpicked the pleats and washed on the highest setting on the machine to felt the woollen fabric. I created the tablet sleeve with complimentary red fabric (a former curtain).
If you fancy making your tablet case I have a simple tutorial here.
Next up a smaller ladies shoulder bag, again lined with complimentary red:) It’s such a fab colour combination.
Having sketched this bag out I am chuffed it fits a mini IPAD.
I am delighted with all of them, in fact I am feeling inspired for these to designs to be the basis of a new autumn range.
Which is your favourite make? What would you make with an former tweed skirt?
Red, White, and Black will be stopping traffic!

wow, what gorgeous bags and such a great way to upcylcle. I love the idea of going for it all at once to get the most out of one skirt rather than what I would probably do which is to make one bag then put the rest back into my fabric stash and forget about it again! I think I would have to say that the last bag is my favourite :-)

What great upcycling! I like to find wool and cashmere sweaters at thrift stores and then felt them in the washer. They make great mittens and scarfs (and the cashmere is nice for baby items). Thanks for sharing! Notwendy gmail
