There is something wonderful and versatile about wood slice wreaths. When you make your own DIY wood log wreath you can theme the design to your home.
If you are wondering what to make with your old Christmas Tree this is great craft. Let the trunk dry out then cut it into log slices for a variety of craft projects. It takes time to dry out, alternatively, you can buy wood slices pre-cut.

How to make a wood slice wreath
Learn how to make a log slice wreath. Either saw up your old Christmas tree trunk into equal width slices (approx 3/8") and allow the wood to fully dry out. Alternatively, purchase pre-cut wood slices.
Materials
- Wood log slices - mine measure between 1 - 2"
- Two colours of Fusion mineral paint or similar
- E6000 glue
- Ribbon
Tools
- Paint brush
- Masking Tape
- Staple Gun
Instructions
- Play with your wood slices - creating two laters, one larger as the base, with a second smaller layer so that the log slices overlap each other
- Having chosen your wood slices, mark off triangular sections with masking tape for your first layer of paint.
- Paint and set aside to dry.
- Once dry remove the mailing tape, then mask a second triangular shape for your second colour of choice.
- Paint, once dry remove the masking tape.
- Arrange your larger slices in a circular shape - use a household item as a guide for forming the circle.
- Apply E6000 glue to the back of your smaller slices and arrange to overlap the large log slices, thus joining them together.
- Once the wreath has full dried check the rigidity, if need be turn over. Staple gun the log slices where they but each other to add strength.
- If you like add a bow from ribbon.
